Hello! My name is Megan, and I am honored that you are considering me to walk alongside you on your journey towards healing.
As a lifelong resident of Merritt Island, I am so excited to serve the needs of our community and the surrounding areas. I specialize in crisis management, perinatal mental health, working with teens, and general substance abuse and mental health concerns including anxiety and depression.
Throughout my experience in various settings (including inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment), I have learned that approaching our work together with a trauma informed lens is paramount. I utilize a variety of techniques including CBT, psychoeducation, strengths based approaches, client focused care, and components of ACT. I believe every person deserves to be uplifted in a warm, safe, non-judgemental space. Your experiences, feelings, and needs will always be valued in our shared time together.
Taking the first step is often the hardest one. If recovery doesn’t seem possible, please know that with help, you can be well. Together, I am hopeful that we can shift your life towards a happier, healthier space.
Angela Maxwell
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Hello, my name is Angela Maxwell. I would be honored to work with you through what I know will be an amazing journey. Making the decision to start counseling is a big step and the process can be a lot of work, however, I truly believe the rewards can be healthy emotional growth and a new life balance.
I am a MSW, Master of Social Work, and a LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over 20 years experience. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Art , with a concentration in Women's Studies.
Some therapeutic areas I have specialized in are: working with adults navigating grief, chronic illness and pain, caregiver burnout, adjustment, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I also have experience working with those with PTSD, and have worked at the VA. I am the daughter of an Air Force veteran, with 13 uncles who were all in the military. I truly believe in, and appreciate, that journey.
I acknowledge and believe everyone has a unique soul, and I believe we have all experienced our own trauma, disappointment, stress, and challenges. We see and approach everything in our own way.
I believe family history, culture, spirituality, education, individual point of view, and many other parts of the whole determine the decisions we make and how we approach life's challenges. I believe these should be identified and acknowledged within us when we talk about coping skills and growth.
Some therapy techniques I use are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Care, Compassionate Care, and Solution Focused styles. I offer these so we may find ways to create new thought patterns and break down the challenges you want to address into more approachable goals. I am here to listen and provide non-judgmental and empowering moments that propel you forward.
I am informal, compassionate, honest, and to the point. I truly want to be in the moment with you. I believe we have to take the time to examine our thoughts and goals somewhere peaceful and safe.
I look forward to getting to know you.
